Blood Testing - Pet Travel Scheme and Vet

We micro-chip, vaccination, blood test and rabies for shipping your pet into the U.K. and E.U. under  the new  Pet Travel Scheme.

European Regulation 998/2003 took effect on 3 July, 2004.  It sets out the rules for pet animals traveling between European Union (E.U) from other countries.

To enter or re-enter the UK from a non- E.U listed country without quarantine a pet must, in this order, be micro chipped, vaccinated against rabies and blood tested, issued with an E.U pet passport or an official veterinary certificate and treated against ticks and tapeworms.

Pets check list:

Preparing your pet

Step One

  • My pet has been micro chipped.
  • The microchip is ISO standard.
  • The microchip can be read.

Step Two

  • My pet was at least 3 months old when vaccinated.
  • It was vaccinated against rabies after being fitted with a microchip.
  • The microchip has been entered correctly by the vet on the vaccination record.

Step Three

  • I have a record from the vet of the date the blood sample was taken, showing the correct microchip number.  The blood sample was taken after the vaccination.
  • My pet has satisfactory blood test a  E.U approved laboratory
  • I have a copy of the blood teat result showing the correct microchip number and the date the blood sample was taken.

Step Four

  • The official veterinary certificate
  • My pet had a blood sample taken at least 6 calendar months before the day it will enter the UK.

Step Five

Neutering

We strongly recommend that all owners consider having their pets spayed or Castrated.  Millions of pets are euthanised every year because there are not enough homes.  There are also health issues to consider.

Spaying Females:

  • Eliminate unwanted heat cycles
  • Eliminates the inconvenience of protecting from males
  • Prevents unwanted pregnancy
  • Decreases risk of mammary, ovarian and uterine cancer or infection
  • Controls pet population

Neutering Males:

  • Decreases / Eliminates spraying to "mark" territory
  • Eliminates urine odour associated with tom cats
  • Eliminates roaming for females
  • Decreases aggression and fighting
  • Decreases risk of prostate and testicular cancer
  • Controls pet population

The best time for spaying/neutering is at 9 months old.  This will not change your pets personality, except to make him or her a better pet.

We spay/neuter dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs by appointment .  Dogs and cats almost always go home the same evening.
